About Electrix
An independent guide to electric, plug-in hybrid and hybrid cars sold in South Africa. It is a passion project, not a dealer, and it does not sell cars.

Where the numbers come from
Specifications come from manufacturer and importer announcements and South African motoring sites. Each car page names its source. Where sources disagree, or a test is not named, we say so. Claimed range on the WLTP test is a fair way to compare cars, but it is higher than what you will get at 120 km/h, so we also show an estimated highway range (WLTP range multiplied by 0.7). Cost per 100 km uses a home electricity price of R3 per kWh.

The "Who it suits" texts are our own summaries of the figures, not professional advice. Charging stations come from Open Charge Map and can be out of order, busy or out of date, so check the operator's app before a long trip.
